Arsenal will need to strengthen in the midfield area ahead of next season in the summer transfer. Paul Pogba’s latest transfer decision could give Edu a major advantage in signing Juventus’ midfielder Western McKennie.
According to Eurosport, Pogba has agreed to take a salary cut to make his return to Juventus. This makes his move to the Old Lady imminent ahead of next season.
The Gunners desperately need to sign a midfielder due to the lack of depth and quality in the middle of the park. Pogba’s move to Juventus could leave McKennie surplus to requirements, which would give Edu an excellent chance to sign him.

Arsenal previously held interest in McKennie. According to the Metro, Mikel Arteta wanted to bring the American to north London as his versatility also made him an attractive acquisition.
Arsenal could be left short in midfield this summer, as football.london understands that Roma are expected to make a fresh attempt to sign Granit Xhaka at the end of the season.
This will mean that Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny would be the only experienced midfielders in the team. Albert Sambi Lokonga certainly has the potential but has yet to show his quality consistently on the Premier League stage.
McKennie is a player with tons of experience despite still being a young age at just 23-years-old. Since his move to Juventus in 2020 from German side Schalke 04, the American has made 75 appearances for the Serie A outfit. He has also contributed to 13 goals, which is impressive for a midfielder
He has also proved himself to be key on the international stage having made 31 appearances for the United States. He managed to score nine goals since making his debut for his country.
McKennie would certainly be a good signing for the Gunners, and his versatility adds emphasis on why he would be an excellent coup. He has played at right-back numerous times during his career, and this is a position that Arsenal needs to address as Cedric Soares is not a good enough backup option to Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Pogba’s transfer move could have an excellent impact on Arsenal’s summer transfer window. The signing of McKennie would certainly enhance the strength of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
