Paul Pogba compares himself to Jesus in bizarre Manchester United exit comments

Paul Pogba has bizarrely compared himself to Jesus as he opens up on his reasons for leaving Manchester United.

The midfielder is departing Old Trafford this summer after the club confirmed his exit earlier this month. Pogba’s contract expires on June 30, and the 29-year-old is expected to secure a return to Juventus.

Pogba’s departure from United is chronicled in his new Amazon Prime documentary ‘The Pogmentary’, which will be made available from June 17. The series is split into five episodes, and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the France international’s life ahead of his United exit.

He opens the documentary by saying: “My name is Paul Pogba, I play at Manchester United, one of the best clubs on the planet. A few years ago, I won the World Cup with France. I want to be among the elite, outstanding. Now, I am at a turning point in my career. I have big decisions to make which are going to determine my future and I don’t have the right to make an error.”

Pogba is seen dismissing United’s attempts to tie him down to a new contract during the documentary. The midfielder calls the club’s offers “nothing” despite the proposed deal seeing an increase on his £290,000-a-week contract.

The former academy star states he wants to prove United made a “mistake” by not renewing his deal. Pogba also hinted as to why he decided to leave the club for a second time.

“When you like a girl, you do everything to seduce her and you don’t wait for her to leave to chase after her,” he said. “A player, he has to feel important in his team, his club. If you don’t have that, it’s over.

“As long as my players and my family are happy, I don't care if the others aren't.” Pogba then made a bizarre comparison, saying: “Even Jesus wasn’t unanimously rejected, they still crucified him.”

United fans were continuously left frustrated by Pogba’s performances during his second spell with the club, with his final home appearance seeing him jeered as left the pitch. It seems as though he won’t be earning any more fans at Old Trafford through his new documentary.
