Paul O'Grady said he took on the role of Annie's Miss Hannigan after being "plied with whiskey."
Despite saying he'd never do drag again, Paul will be turning to the stage, not as Lilly, but as a much more intimidating character. The comedian announced he would be taking on the role of Annie's Miss Hannigan, the musical's main antagonist.
The hit musical will be heading on a UK and Ireland tour from March 2023, heading to Newcastle, Edinburgh, and more. Paul shared the news on Instagram with several photos of himself as Miss Hannigan alongside an explanation of how he found himself in the role.

The caption said: "This is what happens when you go for a drink after rehearsals with your producer and after being plied with whisky you’d agree to play a nun in the Sound of Music let alone Miss Hannigan.
"The last time I was in this show was 1998 playing Hannigan again and then on tour, job sharing with Lesley Joseph. Annie is hitting the road again next year for a National Tour but I’m only doing 6 dates as I’ve got other commitments but I’ve got to say I’m really looking forward to it as it’s such a great show.
He added: "Anyway, I’ll be in Newcastle, Edinburgh, Southampton, Liverpool, Dublin and Bristol and these dates are scattered throughout the year."
