Paul O'Grady supported by Kim Cattrall as BBC Radio 2 show taken off air until May

Kim Cattrall issued a message of support to Paul O'Grady after he confirmed his radio programme will be taken off air until May.

The Birkenhead TV personality has hosted a show on BBC Radio 2 from 5 - 7pm on Sundays since 2009.

However, the 66-year-old is going to be replaced by comedian Rob Beckett for the next 13 weeks.

He shared a message with his 613k Instagram followers to thank fans for tuning into the show and announced the shake-up was a "management decision".

He said: "I’m doing my best to look benign but Sausage has just spotted Nancy dragging a tea towel down the hall and as you can see she wants a bit of the action.

"It’s my last Radio 2 Sunday show for quite some time, our listening figures have shot up so a great big thank you to everyone who listens."

He continued: "While I’m on the subject I’d also like to thank my producer (sounds very grand) Malcolm Prince who is one of the best in the business and hasn’t cracked once in the 14 years we’ve been on air.

"There’s a new regime now, I do 13 weeks on and then 13 off which is nothing to do with me as it’s a management decision.

"So, all being well and providing I’m not in India or Borneo, travel restrictions permitting, I should be back some time in May. Take it easy. X"

Celebrity fans rushed to support Paul after the announcement, including former Sex and the City star, Kim Cattrall.

The 65-year-old was born in Mossley Hill and urged Paul to relax during his break from the radio.

She said: "Rest well…."

Other fans took to the comments and said they will miss Paul during his time away from the show.

Samantha said: "Nooooo who are we going to listen to on a Sunday teatime"

Christopher added: "Oh no Paul we will miss you big time"

Joanne posted : "Nooooo that’s my Sundays ruined for a while! Will miss you and Malcolm but have a great break all the same"

Shauna commented: "You’ll be a big miss but put your feet up and chill. Hopefully by the time you’re back on air we will be in the garden, sun on our faces and a glass of wine. You enjoy."
