Paul O'Grady's husband Andre Portasio shared the last ever photo they took together on their most recent holiday as he thanked fans for their support.
Andre announced earlier this week that his beloved husband Paul had passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" at the age of 67. Two days on from Paul's tragic passing, Andre took to social media to share a snap of the pair from their last holiday in January.
Alongside a sweet photo of the pair on a boat surrounded by gorgeous blue water, Andre wrote: "In time I hope to write to everyone individually and thank you for all posts, messages, phone calls, emails, cards, and flowers of support. I much appreciate you all taking the time to reach out."
He added: "I’m so very touched and I’m sure Paul would be too! Browsing for a picture I found the last picture we ever took together. Unbeknownst to us back in January this would be our last ever holiday together."
On Tuesday, Andre announced the news of his husband's death with a statement. He said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion."
He added: “I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
Paul and Andre tied the knot at a low-key ceremony in 2017 after 11 years together. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Paul's friend Linda Thorson spoke about his final moments before his death.
Linda said: "He was so happy, full of life. But he died in his own bed, his husband was there, Andre the most divine man who he has been with for many years. He's only 41, he will be so bereft of Paul, he worshipped Paul."
She added: "He gave a speech at Paul's 60th birthday and Cilla was there and Barbara Windsor, they're all gone. They'll all be partying in heaven, and the Queen."
"We will all be there for you Andre," the Marvel actress added.
