Paul O'Grady has been part of our lives for decades with his numerous projects and iconic TV shows.
Fans were heartbroken to learn that the Blankety Blank star died "unexpectedly but peacefully" at the age of 67 this week.
The TV icon's death has sparked a £100,000 wave of love for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home - with the late star's beloved animal centre look set to hit £100,000 in donations this weekend.
Paul was known for his quick wit and major love for animals, with him becoming a household name in the early noughties.
He first rose to prominence as his drag queen persona Lily Savage in the 1980s before going on to host a string of TV shows.
Thanks to his TV shows, projects and investments, the icon racked up a fortune that will most likely see his husband Andre Portasio as the benefactor.
According to reports, he left a fortune of £8.6 million.
Records filed by him show that in the 12 months up until May 2022, he gained more than £1.8million.
As reported by The Sun, he had almost £1.3million placed in the bank.
The numbers are filed for his company, Buster Productions, named after one of his late dogs.
A TV insider said: “The huge fortune he’d accrued was a reflection of how popular and successful he was."
Mirror have contacted his reps for comment.
Meanwhile, the late star continues to help animals in need as people have been donating to an animal centre as a tribute.
Donations to Paul's beloved animal centre look set to hit £100,000 this weekend.
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has been “overwhelmed and touched” by the reaction of the public after the TV star's death.
Chief Executive Peter Laurie said the charity – which was featured in the comic’s TV show Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs – had received countless letters, calls, emails and messages of support.
A “tribute fund” in memory of the star had last night racked up £90,000 and could smash through the £100,000 barrier this weekend.
Paul, also known for his famous drag alter ego Lily Savage, died “unexpectedly but peacefully”, his partner Andre Portasio said in a statement earlier this week.
On Thursday, Andre posted a picture of the pair on their last holiday early this year.
He said of tributes he has received: “I’m so very touched and I’m sure Paul would be too!
“I found the last picture we ever took together. Unbeknownst to us back in January this would be our last ever holiday together.”
