Paul O'Grady fans were furious to learn that the star will be replaced on his BBC Radio 2 show for an extended spell.
The presenter was taken off air after 23 years, with younger comedian Rob Beckett standing in to replace him for a lengthy period.
Fans normally tune in every Sunday between 5-7pm to be warmed by his humour and anecdotes but were disappointed to discover that they would have to go 13 weeks without him.

The producers have decided that the show will now work in seasons - so Paul does 13 weeks on air and then takes 13 weeks off.
Paul announced the news on his Instagram account, as he said: "I’m doing my best to look benign but Sausage has just spotted Nancy dragging a tea towel down the hall and as you can see she wants a bit of the action.
"It’s my last Radio 2 Sunday show for quite sometime, our listening figures have shot up so a great big thank you to everyone who listens.
"While I’m on the subject I’d also like to thank my producer (sounds very grand) Malcolm Prince who is one of the best in the business and hasn’t cracked once in the 14 years we’ve been on air.
"There’s a new regime now, I do 13 weeks on and then 13 off which is nothing to do with me as it’s a management decision. So, all being well and providing I’m not in India or Borneo, travel restrictions permitting, I should be back some time in May. Take it easy. X"
Although Paul's absence is not permanent it has still caused outrage with his loyal listeners, with some even threatening to boycott the station in protest.
Taking to Twitter, they shared their threats of 'switching off'.
Martin said: "@BBCRadio2 You’ll be losing this listener for the half a year you’re taking @PaulOGradyShow off air. I like Rob Beckett, but Paul is a gem, appointment listening…"
Another user said: "Taking Paul O'Grady off the air for Rob Beckett @BBCRadio2 Totally bonkers decision."
Mark said: "Poor decision. Nothing against Rob Beckett but this is poor. Paul has a really good show with a loyal following. What is @BBCRadio2 doing?"
