Paul O'Grady fans frustrated at 'misstep' as BBC Radio 2 show goes off air

Upset fans have vented their frustration after Paul O'Grady announced that his BBC Radio 2 Show will be temporarily going off air. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, he posted an image of his mic which he uses in the radio studio.

He explained that his show had been cancelled and that this would be his penultimate one, Liverpool Echo reported. His final show will be on Sunday, August 21. The 67-year-old comedian captioned the post: "Penultimate show today. Hope you’re enjoying the sun unless you’re somewhere where it’s raining then ignore that #teampogradio @malprin."

Fans were absolutely gutted over the news, with some threatening to 'switch off' from the BBC radio channel. Fran said: "Not again, why don’t radio 2 just leave your show on the air, I stop listening when you're not on! X"

Ali said: "I don’t like this whole 13 weeks on 13 weeks off thing. Radio 2 did a bit of a miss step there." Jayne said: "Oh no, Sundays are not the same without you. I shall keep radio silence (on Sundays) till you are back. Enjoy whatever you'll be doing x"

It is the second time this year that Paul has been pulled from his regular radio spot on a Sunday afternoon. He was previously replaced by Rob Beckett for three months after BBC Radio 2 had a huge shake up with its normal format.

Paul took the news well, saying it was a "new regime" whereby he would do 13 weeks on and 13 weeks off, but some fans were disappointed. Some said they wouldn't listen to the 5pm-7pm Sunday slot while he was away.
