Paul O'Grady fans fall in love with his pet dog who 'looks just like him'

Paul O'Grady has delighted fans by sharing a picture of his dog Nancy on Instagram, saying she "looks like a cartoon". The presenter is known for lots of things - including being a former drag queen and English comedian - but most of all, his love for dogs.

The 67-year-old shared a sweet snap of his pet with 707,000 social media followers, alongside the caption: "Sometimes Nancy manages to look like a cartoon." The photo showed the young Jack Russell playing with a tennis ball and gazing mischievously at the camera with her big brown eyes.

Over a thousand fans took to the comments section to share their sweet reactions and recalled watching Nancy on ITV's For The Love Of Dogs.

Coronation Street actor Angela Lonsdale commented: "She's beautiful.. giving you the side eye. I love that."

One fan said: "Hello Nancy, you are a wee beauty", while another wrote: "Oh she's simply gorgeous."

Other followers called the pup's cheeky expression "priceless" and said she had "devilment" in her eyes.

Some even thought the pooch resembled Paul himself, with one commenting: "Your dog looks a little like you very cute and funny little face."

"She's a looker Paul just like her owner," a second agreed, and a third said: "What a character.. just like her Dog Father."

Paul, who lives in Adlington, near Ashford, adopted Nancy two years ago from Battersea Cats & Dogs Home, after meeting her while filming his TV show.

Nancy joined a menagerie of pets at his Kent home, including five rescue dogs - Nancy, Arfur, Conchita, Eddie and Sausage - pigs, alpacas, chickens, sheep and goats.

Paul breached his self-imposed contract, which is said to prohibit him from taking animals home from the centre while filming, to recently adopt Sausage, also known as Soz.

Paul and his animal family live on the farm with his devoted husband Andre Portasio, who he met in the mid-2000s at a club in London called Showplace.

Although they have been married for almost five years, Paul and Andre actually never lived together until the coronavirus pandemic struck.

However when lockdown hit, Paul decided it was time to move in with Andre so the pair could be close and look after their furry brood together.
