Paul O'Grady adopted another rescue dog while filming his documentary series, despite previously stating that he was contractually obliged not to take any more pets home.
The presenter, 66, has a soft spot for animals, with him having fronted For the Love of Dogs - about rescue centre Battersea Dogs & Cats Home - for almost a decade.
He has adopted even more pets since the show began, with him announcing this week that he has taken home another dog after being introduced to her during recent filming.
Paul described his latest four-legged companion, who is called Sausage, as the "friendliest dog in the world" - with her joining his four other dogs, who he'd previously rescued.
The adoption may have been a breach of a self-imposed clause in his contract though, which is said to prohibit him from taking animals home from the centre while filming.
He mentioned this some years ago and revealed that "under no circumstances" was he allowed to go home with any more animals from Battersea, as reported by the Standard.
The comedian discussed the clause in his contract back in 2012, when he described doing the documentary series as being like "putting an ex-drug addict in a cocaine factory."
The presenter had teased: "It went in my contract - under no circumstances was I allowed to go home with anything: two-legged, four-legged, three-legged, anything."
However, he admitted at the time of the interview that he had broken the self-imposed clause by taking home an abandoned puppy on the last day of filming the first series.
He teased that he had "held out until then" and had joked about a subsequent instalment of the documentary: "God help me if we get another series."
The Mirror approached reps of Paul O'Grady for comment.
The former drag queen announced on Instagram this week that he had adopted Sausage - who is a wire-haired Dachshund, with him having adopted her from Battersea.
The dog, who is said to come from Poland, is understood to have captured his heart when she found herself in the care of Battersea's centre in London after being found as a stray.
Paul said: "I [took] this hairy little monster home. She's called Sausage, which isn't very original but it doesn't matter as she can't understand a word of English except 'biscuit.'"

He said that she "gets on" with three of his dogs - Nancy, Arfur and Eddie - though there isn't much of a relationship forming with his fourth, Conchita - who "simply ignores her."
Alongside some photos of the new addition, Paul wrote: "Nancy loves her [though] and together they're a right pair of hooligans.
He further commented in the post: "So far Sausage has eaten her way through a couple of dog beds, an armchair, endless pairs of socks and shoes and the stair carpet."
And he concluded: "But she's the friendliest dog on the planet so what's a pair of shoes between friends?"
The final episode of Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs is said to air on ITV on March 9 at 8pm. You can catch up now through the ITV Hub.
