Paul Mescal has revealed he gifted his famous chain he wore on Normal People to his co-star Daisy Edgar Jones.
The Kildare native shot to fame as Connell Waldron in the Sally Rooney TV adaptation, which starred Daisy as Marianne Sheridan.
But it was Paul’s famous chain and his GAA shorts that got the nation talking, with a fan setting up an Instagram account, paying homage to the chain.
But Paul revealed he gifted the piece of jewellery to Daisy at their wrap party.
He said: “The chain is with Daisy! I gave it to her as a wrap gift at the end.”
Paul was speaking to Today FM’s Dermot & Dave ahead of his upcoming film Aftersun, alongside Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells.
The star – who is rumoured to be engaged to Phoebe Bridges – opened up about taking on the Edinburgh accent for the role.
He said: “We played Edinburgh film festival and I think it was the most nervous I was for any of the festivals because you’re bringing an accent into the lion’s den.
“But lots of Charlotte’s family were there and they gave me the thumbs up and honestly I couldn’t do a Scottish accent before we started auditioning so it’s an amazing thing that happens when you read a script that you really want to do and it just came out of the sky I don’t know I was just able to do it.”
Opening up about his first impressions of the Aftersun script, he said: “I just remember the feeling of finishing the script and the feeling that I felt when I finished it was what I would hope an audience would get.
“Whether it’s dialogue or silence or whatever gets you to that moment is the important part of it. I was nervous, obviously, of the silence because there’s less acting crutches that you can lean on but it’s just a kind of feeling that you’re hoping to elicit on or generate for an audience,” he added.
