Pundit Paul Merson has claimed that Naby Keita is ‘not good enough’ for Liverpool.
The Reds midfielder has just completed his fourth season at Anfield and arguably had his best campaign for the club yet. Keita finished the term with 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and chipping in with three assists.
Keita’s future at Liverpool has been subject of speculation in recent days. Such talk of an exit this summer has been dismissed as pure fabrication by the Reds, with Paris Saint-Germain the club who were linked with his services.

Reflecting on the campaign that has now concluded, Merson went through each Premier League team and gave his assessment. When it came to Liverpool, for the ‘not good enough’ section the former Arsenal star made Keita his choice.
“Naby Keita’s signing didn’t really do much for me,” Merson told Sportskeeda .
“I was a bit shocked when they brought him on in the Champions League final. Liverpool needed a goal, and he’s scored one goal in about a million games.”
When picking Liverpool’s best player of the season, Merson went with Fabinho. The Sky Sports pundit explained why the Brazilian is integral to the Reds winning matches.
“I'm going to go out of the box here and pick a player whose absence caused Liverpool to struggle,” said Merson. “If Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah do not play, Liverpool still manage to win. Fabinho, however, is a necessity in Jurgen Klopp's team.
“Liverpool's midfield isn't particularly strong, and Fabinho holds his team together admirably. He's an absolute must in the midfield three and has played pivotal roles in their best performances this season.”
