Donny van de Beek has been praised by Sky Sports' Paul Merson for never moaning while at Manchester United.
The Dutchman has found chances hard to come by at Old Trafford since making the switch from Ajax.
Van de Beek made just 14 appearances for United during the first half of the season before making a loan switch to Everton on transfer deadline day.
Manchester Evening News understands that the midfielder was upset by his role at the Theatre of Dreams and was looking for an exit in January.
But writing in his Sky Sports column, Merson was quick to praise the player's attitude.
"Donny van de Beek just hasn’t got started in England," he explained.
"I feel for him, I really do. I really like his attitude. He has never moaned, he’s always there and you never see him throwing his toys out the pram.
"I just hope he does well, and he’s given a chance finally because I think there’s a top player in there.
"He just needs to let it come out and he needs a run of games to be able to do that. He doesn’t need one game here or one game there or 10 minutes here or 10 minutes there in a game where it is a hiding to nothing."
Van de Beek is cup tied for Everton's FA Cup fourth round clash with Brentford on Saturday but could make his Toffees debut away at Newcastle on Sunday.
