Paul McCartney's heartache as he pays emotional tribute to brother-in-law

Sir Paul McCartney has paid tribute to his brother-in-law after his death was announced.

John Eastman died on Tuesday aged 83 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the brother of Paul's first wife Linda Eastman McCartney, who died in 1998.

The Beatles singer, 80, took to Instagram to share his heartfelt tribute, posting a snap of the two of them doing yoga poses. He captioned the image: "My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away. Having known each other for over 50 years it is an extremely sad time for me, and our families.

"John was a great man. One of the nicest and smartest people I have had the good luck to have known in my life. Not only did he help me massively in my business dealings as my lawyer but as a friend he was hard to beat."

He continued his lengthy post: "His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did and his devotion to his family was supreme. We had so many fun times together through the years, but when the time came to be serious, he was unbeatable.

"There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man. He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him."

Paul signed off his message: "See ya Johnny! Love Paul."

Fans were quick to send their own messages of condolence in the comments section of the post. One user wrote: "My heart goes out to you Macca, much love & God Bless his soul."

Another penned: " I’m so sorry, Paul. At least he meets up again with Linda. Rest in peace," while a third said: "He‘ll hug Linda for you. Sorry for your loss."

John was part of the singer's team of lawyers who helped the Let It Be singer through The Beatles' break up. His dad Lee was also on hand to help.

Paul and Linda got married in 1969 a week before bandmate John Lennon tied the knot with Yoko Ono. John Eastman is survived by his wife Jodie Eastman.
