Paul McCartney's Glastonbury set leaves viewers fuming with BBC as complaints pour in

he BBC have now spoken out after fans complained about their coverage of Sir Paul McCartney’s set at Glastonbury.

After a set from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the Beatles legend took to the festival’s famous Pyramid Stage to headline Saturday night and perform a three hour long set which featured tracks from both Wings and The Beatles’ back catalogues, including Get Back, Something and Hey Jude.

Sir Paul kicked things off at Glastonbury not long after 9.30pm, but unlike most other sets at the Worthy Farm event, like Sam Fender's a night earlier, it wasn’t available to watch as it happened on BBC iPlayer, with it not being available to watch until an hour after it started.

The BBC have now released a statement on the matter and said Sir Paul's set was not shown live due to the “complexity” of broadcasting an event of that scale and volume, adding in a statement that “there is sometimes variation between performances taking place and their transmission”

Fans flocked to Twitter to air their grievances on the night and all day Sunday after the set wasn't available to watch on iPlayer at all, before it finally appeared on the streaming platform on Sunday night.

One tweeted: " @BBC can you explain why all of #Glastonbury2022 is available on #iplayer EXCEPT for @PaulMcCartney?"

A second posted: "Having to stay up until half one because you didn't air Paul McCartney 'live' as promised - and where on earth is his set on iPlayer??" Equally unimpressed, another reacted: BBC & BBC Iplayer your an absolute joke, nothing from Paul McCartney all day after an hour delay last night, embarrassing!!!"
