Paul McCartney reveals Artificial Intelligence has created a 'final Beatles record'

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed he has used AI to create a "final Beatles record."

The Beatles are regarded as the most influential band of all time, but when John Lennon quit the band before his tragic death in 1980, fans were bereft.

The last Beatles track recorded was I Me Mine in 1970 with Paul, George Harrison, and Ringo Star.

But now there's a final song in the pipeline - and it's all thanks to technology.

Paul, 80, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme AI had been used to "extricate" John's voice from an old demo, so he could complete the song.

"We just finished it up and it'll be released this year," he explained.

Paul did not name the song, but it is likely to be a 1978 number called Now And Then.

The track had already been considered as a possible "reunion song" for the Fab Four in 1995, as they were compiling their Anthology series.

Hey Jude star Paul announced he had teamed up with the Rolling Stones earlier this year, playing bass on a track for their upcoming album.

For more than 50 years the bands have had a friendly rivalry, which includes decades of playful jibes.

Most recently Macca branded the Stones a "blues cover band" in 2021.

The war of words began in the 1970s, when John called Mick Jagger "a joke" - among other things.

Since then, Keith Richards has branded The Beatles "a mishmash of rubbish", quipping the Liverpool-based band was "never quite there" when playing live.

Then Paul said: "I love the Stones, but The Beatles were better", prompting Mick to brand him a "sweetheart", before scoffing The Beatles never managed an arena tour, insisting: "There's obviously no competition."

Mick also hinted at a potential collaboration, teasing Paul over his diss, claiming the grandfather would "join us in a blues cover" during one of his gigs.

Paul shot to fame aged just 21 after The Beatles went stratospheric.

The superstar has had a string of romances in the public eye, including the tragic death of his wife of 30 years, Linda McCartney - and a bitter £24m+ divorce settlement with Heather Mills.

He met Heather in 1999, married in 2002 and separated in 2006 before finalising their divorce in 2008. The couple share a daughter named Beatrice from their relationship together.

Paul is now happily married to American Nancy Shevell, who he wed in 2011.
