Paul McCartney, Elton John and Tom Hanks lead A-listers celebrating artist David Hockney

David Hockney's latest exhibition was enjoyed by a host of famous faces as the artist debuted his brand new immersive experience that takes you since the artist's best-loved paintings in London's Lightroom.

The exhibition uses large-scale projection to take fans on a journey through sixty years of David's art with Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Tom Hanks among those enjoying the experience.

Jools Holland was also in attendance at the London immersive experience while Liam Payne was pictured enjoying the exhibition last week, too.

Artists assistant Rich Hockney uploaded a series of posts to Instagram to celebrate David's work and show off the A-list crowd that was present.

He captioned the post: "Very special evening last night, David giving a viewing of his new show at the @_lightroomldn to his old friends @paulmccartney @eltonjohn tomhanks and @jools.holland.official."

In one picture, David is seen sitting between Elton John and Paul McCartney as Tom Hanks and Jools Holland stand behind him.

Two videos uploaded in the same reel show the A-list crowd enjoying the exhibition with the popular artist.

In another snap, Jools and Hollywood actor Tom can be seen with merchandise from the exhibition and a final picture shows the actor standing with Mark Grimmer, Nick Corrigan and Richard Slaney who helped bring David's paintings to life with 59 Productions.

In an earlier post, Liam Payne can be seen in a denim jacket at the immersive experience sat next to David.

Artists assistant Rich also uploaded a photo with Forest Gump star Tom Hanks at the exhibition with the caption: "From Toy story, Big, Forrest gump, [sic] Captain Philips to the new Elvis film, Tom Hanks has always been my acting hero.

"It was an absolute honour to chat about Greece, Saganaki, art and his incredible career. They say don’t meet your heroes, but if its Tom Hanks then you are fine! A real gent, humble and hilarious all in one."

David's exhibition is a cycle of six themed chapters, where the artist provides a commentary as he reveals his artistic process with a specially composed score by Nico Muhly.
