Paul Lambert WON'T be next Motherwell manager as Fir Park hero 'out of the running'

Paul Lambert has reportedly ruled himself out of the running to return to Motherwell as their new manager.

The Fir Park side are on the hunt for their next boss after Stevie Hammell was dismissed in the aftermath of their Scottish Cup embarrassment against Raith Rovers. A number of names have been in the frame with Stuart Kettlewell, who has stepped in as interim manager, pleaded his case to take the job full-time.

A number of other candidates have been touted with Jim Goodwin, Jack Ross, Grant McCann and David Healy among the suggested names as the board assess the field and look for the right boss to steer them away from the danger zone. Lambert, who has been out of work since leaving Ipswich in 2021, was a popular shout among fans keen to see him return to the club after a successful spell as a player there in the 1990s.

But The Scottish Sun say he is NOT considering a return to management with his old team. It's claimed he's exploring options elsewhere but doesn't see a return to Scotland with the Steelmen as being the right option for him with a move abroad more likely for the 53-year-old.
