West Ham manager Paul Konchesky waxed lyrical on star striker Viviane Asseyi after the former Bayern Munich forward got off the mark in the Women's Super League with two goals netted in the first half against Reading.
The Hammers picked up another three points to add on to the maximum that they took from Aston Villa last weekend. Dagny Brynjarsdottir opened the goalscoring with yet again another headed goal in the fourth minute to set the east Londoners on track for an excellent first-half performance.
Before the 30th-minute mark, 28-year-old Asseyi netted two very different goals. The French international's first one was very scrappy, whilst her second one was a more composed finish one-v-one after Melisa Felis dissected the Reading backline with a through ball.
Despite the lightning-quick start in the opening 45 minutes, the Royals came out swinging in the second half and set up a tense finish as Charlie Wellings and Sane Troelsgaard helped in this late comeback attempt. However, it was too little too late for the side that remains bottom of the table alongside fellow strugglers Leicester City.

Meanwhile, the sky is the limit for the Irons, who sit in a pretty position of fifth place in the current standings after five fixtures played. "It was a game of two halves. I thought we were fantastic in the first half, and to go 3-0 up was a credit to my team," Konchesky reflected in his post-match interview. "Second half, it wasn't so good, but at the start of the game, we wanted three points, and we came away with it. That's two wins in two."
Next up for West Ham Women is the tricky challenge of unbeaten Arsenal next Sunday, and Konchesky will certainly hope French star, Asseyi, continues to find the back of the net after she added to the goal scored before the international break in the Continental Cup against the London City Lionesses.
He added: "She has been fantastic since joining. She had been a massive plus, she works her socks off, and she's quick. She's strong, and she can obviously score a goal or two like we have seen today, so It was only a matter of time before she started hitting the back of the net for us.
"Hopefully, there will be many more for us to come."
"I'm really happy for the win because we deserve it. We worked hard every day. So, even if the second half wasn't good, we win, and it's a relief," the French forward admitted in her own interview post-match.
"I'm really happy because I have been waiting for these goals for a lot of time. It's only two goals, though, the season is long, and I really want more. We played really good. We said before that we needed to have fun on the pitch, stay together and enjoy on the pitch and we did that."
