Paul Ince outlines the key to Leeds United beating Man United at 'hostile' Elland Road

Former England midfielder Paul Ince believes that Manchester United will have to be mentally strong to beat Leeds United at a 'hostile' Elland Road this weekend.

The Whites are searching for their first win in four Premier League matches and will be keen to bounce back after Saturday's 3-0 defeat at struggling Everton.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils face Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night following disappointing draws in their last two games against Burnley and Southampton.

This is a fixture steeped in history and it's actually the first meeting between the two sides in front of supporters in West Yorkshire since 2004 and Leeds will be hoping to make home advantage count.

The Whites faithful have looked to make their ground a fortress this season, with the away side winning there just three times, with Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal those successful.

Ince knows the importance of the game and admitted that it'll be a tough encounter for the Red Devils, who have struggled for consistent form since Ralf Rangnick took over.

He told Genting Casino: "I loved playing at Leeds. We know the history between Leeds and Man United, but I love their fans, they’re amazing. I was so glad they made it back to the Premier League.

"The atmosphere at Elland Road is electric, it’s hostile, you can hear the abuse and the shouting. You’ve got to be mentally tough but I loved it there.

"Leeds are fighting for their lives at the moment, so this is a game you’d fancy United to win. But if they don’t have the character, they’ll get beaten. Leeds don’t stop running, and United’s players don’t seem to want to run back."

In the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season, the Red Devils ran out 5-1 winners as Bruno Fernandes grabbed a hat-trick, while Mason Greenwood and Fred also found the scoresheet.

Luke Ayling found the net for the Whites as they got off to the worst possible start but have since responded and currently sit 15th ahead of the contest.
