Paul Ince could welcome back Reading trio for Sunderland fixture

Reading boss Paul Ince could welcome back Shane Long, Mamdou Loum and Yakou Meite for Wednesday's clash with Sunderland. Both sides are still awaiting official confirmation from the EFL in relation to whether the fixture will be postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royals were set to play Watford on Saturday, but like Sunderland , their fixture was postponed. Speaking ahead of the bout with the Hornets, Ince confirmed that Long would miss the game, but Loum and Meite could be back in contention.

“Shane (Long) has got a problem, it looks like he’s going to be out for Saturday,” Ince told Wokingham.today. “He has an issue and we will get more detail on that.

“Yak (Yakou Meite) is back training, maybe it is too early to start but he should be back in contention either this week on Wednesday. Mamadou Loum is also back in training.”

Despite that boost, Reading will be without Ovie Ejaria, Naby Sarr and Scott Dann who are all long-term injuries.

Ince continued: “Naby (Sarr) will be another couple of weeks, he won’t be back before Wigan I wouldn’t have thought. Ovie (Ejaria) is back in the gym doing some stuff and was on the grass today, but not doing too much.

“So I’m hoping after the international break he will be back. Scott (Dann( is out until next year. It will be another two months if we are lucky.”
