Paul Hartley thrilled as Hartlepool snap up freed Celtic defender on two-year deal

PAUL HARTLEY has expressed his delight after snapping up freed Celtic defender Brody Paterson.

The 21-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the English League Two club as Hartley’s Scottish revolution continues.

Hartley has already signed Euan Murray, Reghan Tumilty, Mouhamed Niang and Jake Hastie, as well as former Dundee and Kilmarnock keeper Kyle Letheren, as he puts a tartan stamp on Pools.

After a loan spell under Ian Murray at Airdrie last season, Paterson spent time training with Raith Rovers this summer but has opted to try his luck south of the border.

Hartley said: “I’m delighted to bring Brody to Hartlepool. He is someone I saw a lot during his time with Airdrieonians last season.

“He’s a good young player who can give us a few options in terms of positions. He has had a good grounding at Celtic and gained some great experience.

“We’re really looking forward to working with him over the course of the season.”
