Paul Gascoigne left in tears as cops drop probe into £140k raid at star's home

Paul Gascoigne was in tears last night – after cops dropped their probe into a £140,000 raid at the star’s home.

Gazza was devastated after learning the raiders have dodged justice.

Their September 2020 haul included a £40,000 diamond-encrusted watch bought with his first Tottenham pay packet.

Gazza said they took a gold timepiece given to him from his dad John after he died of cancer in 2018, plus a league medal from Rangers.

It’s feared they struck after TV host Piers Morgan posted a picture of him on Twitter sitting in the Life Stories audience.

Gazza, 54, said: “Losing those things broke my heart – they were from times in my life I’ll never forget.

“Knowing I’ll never get them back makes me furious. Someone stole them because they wanted to make quick money but they were priceless to me.”

Gazza left his home in Poole, Dorset, to support lifelong friend Vinnie Jones – who has helped him battle alcohol addiction. The ex-Wimbledon midfielder was filming his ITV interview in London when Morgan, 56, spotted Gazza.

The presenter posted a snap online, captioned: “Great to see Gazza in the Life Stories audience today, supporting his old nut-cracking mate Vinnie Jones.”

Hours later Gazza returned home to discover his prized possessions missing. It was yet another heartache for the star, who won 57 caps for England.

He reported the loss of five watches, two bracelets, three rings, diamond earrings, £800 designer sunglasses and a New York Police Department badge.

Two steaks were even swiped from his freezer, Gazza said.

The raid followed a string of burglaries on footballers’ homes, including England and Tottenham star Dele Alli, 24, who was attacked by armed raiders when they broke into his London home.

Dorset Police said: “This matter was the subject of a detailed investigation but no arrests have been made.

“The investigation has concluded but, as with any case, we will explore any new lines of inquiry should they emerge.”
