Paul Finebaum rose from an orange Tennessee casket to make his Alabama game pick

Three things are certain in life: death, taxes and Paul Finebaum making a scene on ESPN’s SEC Nation.

For his pick in Saturday’s hotly anticipated rivalry matchup between No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Tennessee, Finebaum chose to make his pick in the most dramatic way possible.

Keeping in lockstep with the Halloween season, six Rocky Top pallbearers brought Finebaum to the SEC Nation stage in a casket, only for the Tennessee alum to rise and pick his the Volunteers to beat the Crimson Tide for the first time since 2006.

It was quite a way to get the Third Saturday in October started.

It’d be quite something for the long-snakebitten Vols to get their first win against Alabama in the Nick Saban era, a win that would catapult Tennessee into the top 5 of the rankings for the first time in ages.

While there’s still a game to play and history heavily tilting in Alabama’s favor, at least the Vols have Finebaum on their side.
