Paul Finebaum doesn’t think one team can win national championship

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish play in the national nhampionship on Monday, Jan. 20 at 7:30pm at Mercedes Benz-Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

SEC college football analyst Paul Finebaum went on the Matt Barrie show to predict what will happen in the championship game.

“I cannot imagine Notre Dame winning the game,” Finebaum stated. “I think Notre Dame is solid but they’re missing a couple of key components. I think Jeremiyah Love being banged up is a problem. I think losing a lineman is a problem. Their special teams are fantastic, but Ohio State is fantastic across the board.”

Notre Dame is dealing with some injuries entering the game. Defensive tackle Rylie Mills suffered a season-endng knee injury and two of their starting offensive linemen, including All-American Anthonie Knapp, are banged up entering this game.

Ohio State bludgeoned the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 1 Oregon Ducks, but they won close against the No. 5 Texas Longhorns to advance to the national title game.

Meanwhile, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish won against in-state rival Indiana, defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl, and kicked a game-winning field goal to seal victory against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Currently, the Buckeyes are slated as favorites to win, according to BetMGM. If the Buckeyes do end up beating Notre Dame, they’ll break a record that Georgia holds.
