Paul Finebaum Declares a College Football ‘Dynasty’ Over After Week 1 Game

Unranked Duke dramatically upset No. 9 Clemson 28–7 on Monday night, and Tigers coach Dabo Swinney immediately caught heat after the game.

Swinney admitted the loss was ”the strangest game I’ve ever been a part of” afterwards, but many saw this as an excuse for how Clemson played.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum was one of Swinney’s critics on Tuesday morning, even going as far to say the coach’s “dynasty” at Clemson is “done.”

“Dabo’s dynasty is done,” Finebaum said on Tuesday’s Get Up. “What else can anyone say? It’s really been teetering for a couple years, but what happened last night is simply unexplainable. ... Dabo’s nonsense after the game isn’t going to impress anyone. This program is flatlining right now.”

Clemson doesn’t play a ranked opponent until Week 4 when they face No. 8 Florida State. It sounds like if the team hopes to make the College Football Playoff, then Swinney and the Tigers need to get their act together fast.

Swinney has been the head coach at Clemson since 2009, leading the team to two national titles and eight ACC championships in that span.
