Paul Feig And Jason Blum Collaborate On Horror Film

Smile 2 horror movie

Director Paul Feig and producer Jason Blum are joining forces for a feature adaptation of the Netflix unscripted series Worst Roommate Ever. The film will be produced by Blumhouse and will center on a newly single woman who unknowingly invites a serial squatter into her home when she sublets a room in her dream house to a seemingly perfect gentleman.

Feig expressed his excitement about collaborating with Blum on this project, stating that the story is perfectly suited to deliver a mix of scares, thrills, emotion, and comedy. This marks the first time Blumhouse will produce both a movie and TV show based on the same intellectual property.

The original unscripted TV series Worst Roommate Ever was inspired by a 2018 New York Magazine article by William Brennan. Blumhouse Television developed the series, which has already seen two successful seasons on Netflix. The decision to adapt the article into a feature film was solidified with Feig coming on board as the director.

Feig, known for his work on projects like The School for Good and Evil and A Simple Favor, is set to direct the feature adaptation. He is also working on the action-comedy film Jackpot for Amazon MGM Studios. The screenplay for Feig's film is a collaboration with Stephen Susco, known for his work on Unfriended: Dark Web.

The producing credits for the feature adaptation will be shared by Blum, Chris Morgan, and Vox Media's Scoop Wasserstein. Executive producers include Ainsley Morgan, William Brennan, and Blumhouse's Bea Sequeira. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum expressed his confidence in Feig's ability to bring the right balance of darkness and light to the story.
