People have been uploading throwback images of themselves as they leave their teens and the older the person, the better they appear to be.
The performer - who has announced he is recovering from the coronavirus - has been trying to keep his mind off the crisis.
Entertaining his followers on Instagram, his search for a picture of himself 50 years ago was a big hit.
Standing in a sleek suit in what appears to be a TV studio, the handsome star's slicked back hair makes him really stand out.
His fans loved it - but some aren't totally sure it's him!
One wrote: "What!! You look so much like Phil Daniels!"
Another said: "Wow this is amazing. I think you have to be the winner of this challenge."
One posted: "It's actually very hard to recognise you!"
Others asked if he was sure it wasn't his much-loved brother Barry.
Two weeks ago, the comedian opened up about his battle with coronavirus in a candid chat with fans.
"Just checking in to let you know I'm still around," he said on twitter.
"I have been laid up with Covid-19 for a good few days, just mild, but it was there and it's not nice."
Paul then pleaded with fans to "please, please stay inside."
He added: "We’re all going stir-crazy, we know that, but please stay inside and take the pressure off the NHS, Marie Curie, etc, etc."
