Paul Cattermole's unexpected career change after leaving S Club 7 and giving up music

When pop legend Paul Cattermole decided to leave S Club - he gave up music for a very different career.

Tragically, Paul died at the age of 46 last month, just weeks after the band revealed their plans for a reunion tour.

The singer was found dead at his home in Dorset and after an investigation, Paul's death was confirmed as natural causes with no inquest set to take place.

Paul had been looking forward to joining the rest of the band for the reunion scheduled for later this year to mark 25 years since the release of their first single Bring It All Back.

However, following Paul's death S Club member Hannah Spearritt announced her decision not to continue with the reunion tour.

Paul briefly enjoyed a very different career when he left the band to pursue other options - offering personalised tarot readings and life advice online.

As a singer, Paul used to face the charts as a member of S Club, but then he began confronting devil cards, swords, pentacles and cups in an effort to guide fans towards spiritual enlightenment.

Paul set up a YouTube channel where he offered tarot readings providing guidance for the future for fans according to their star signs.

He gave monthly readings and occasional 'bonus' readings for all 12 stars of the zodiac, while fans contacted him directly via email to request personalised readings.

Launching the new venture, Paul described his new line of work as: "Tarot readings for everyone!"

He wrote: "General, Collective, individual, timeless and also random Tarot readings most often short and to the point but sometimes long."

Paul's YouTube page also claimed he was: "Paul Cattermole AKA Jesus Christ" and he added a disclaimer to his readings.

He wrote: "This Tarot Channel is in no way responsible with what you do with the information provided in these tarot readings. Don't make big important life choices based on Tarot readings.

"Seek professional advice from lawyers, doctors, financial advisers, personal trainers etc...”

Elsewhere on his YouTube channel, the chart-topping star waxed lyrical about life choices, past decisions, and offered general advice.

In one video titled "Go Big or Go Home", the star lamented: "I used to love diving. I was quite good at that when I was younger. I still kind of slightly am."

He then proceeded to reminisce about learning to dive at his local swimming pool as a child – explaining that his local pool offered an 'Olympic height' diving board which he said he could pass "good and clean".

Opening up about the sage advice he offered to all those closest to him, Paul declared he lived by the motto: "As long as life isn't boring, I don't really care what happens."

With a glass-half-full attitude, the star claimed that he had experienced difficult times in the past, but said: "Those bad things end up being good things."

Throughout his videos, Paul appeared in good spirits – having faced hardship in the years since he sensationally quit S Club back in 2002.

He went bankrupt in 2015 and claimed during an appearance on Loose Women in 2018 that he was so broke he had to borrow a shirt to appear on the show.

While the star also made a surprise reality TV appearance in 2019 when he featured on Channel 4 's First Dates Hotel – where he sadly failed to secure a romance.

His former bandmate Hannah Spearritt is said to have "broke down" when she was given the shocking news and his bandmates were left in "horror and disbelief".

A statement from the band read: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

A statement from his family read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
