Paul Burrell opened up on his health on Friday's Lorraine as he shared an update on his treatment with the ITV presenter.
Speaking about his diagnosis, he said: "I didn't know when I was sat there in the clearing, I knew something was wrong but I didn't know what was wrong and when I got back, i went back to the doctors and they found out it was cancer.
"I'm sat in the jungle with cancer, the Queen has died and I'm thinking, 'Oh wow, how do I get through this?'"
Interjecting, Lorraine said: "But somehow you do," and Paul agreed: "You gather strength from somewhere. I had two angels sat on my shoulders, the Princess [Diana] and the Queen. I'm thinking, 'Are you watching?'"
The ITV presenter asked the I'm A Celebrity star to share an update on his recovery.
He said: "I'm good. The next check-up is six months time, I'm going to live my life and live it large and be grateful for every day."
Last month, Paul admitted I'm A Celebrity "saved my life" as he explained: "I went for the medical [and] they found a raised PSA level. I went to my GP and I said to him, ‘Am I still able to do the show?’
"And he said, ‘Look, this can wait until you get back [from filming] and when you get back, we’ll continue with the investigations’.
“So when I got back, then I had an MRI scan and then I had a biopsy and then they told me that I had cancer, and then I had to go on the path of treatment.”
Paul later shared: “I’m so grateful to ITV for picking me to do the jungle because without that, I would still be sat here today not knowing I had cancer growing inside of me. So my journey is a happy one.
“It's a rollercoaster of emotions and you just don’t know what’s going to happen to you next. And combining that with hormone therapy, which doesn’t help, I get hot sweats and I’m very emotional and very tired, so it's a tough experience to go through but I'm getting through it.”
