Paul Burrell calls for Harry and Meghan to be stripped of royal titles as doc looms

Paul Burrell has suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should have their royal titles taken off them.

It comes ahead of the release of the Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. The series will explore the span of the relationship of Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41.

The six-part project will reportedly be "utterly explosive". It is feared that the upcoming series could portray other members of the Royal Family in an unflattering way.

The show has already attracted much attention ahead of its launch later this week. This included prompting a discussion on TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored earlier tonight.

Among those discussing it was guest Paul, 64. He had previously served as a butler to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana. He shared his thoughts on the show earlier.

Amid a discussion with host Piers Morgan, 57, and other guests, Paul said the series "all smacks of self-obsessed narcissism". He went on to discuss Prince Harry relocating to the US.

Paul said Princess Diana would have applauded Prince Harry for 'protecting his family' but "she wouldn't have applauded what he is doing now. The commercialism around it."

He added that she "never took a penny from anyone else". The former butler further commented that the late Princess Diana had been a "great supporter" of the monarchy.

He said that she was "very proud" of Prince Harry and older brother Prince William, 40, being members of the Royal Family. Paul also spoke about the younger sibling's role.

The former butler claimed Princess Diana thought that it was Prince Harry's job to support Prince William on his path to becoming the monarch. He added: "That was his job."

The segment also saw him asked how he would handle the situation with Prince Harry and Meghan if he were the monarch. Paul suggested stripping them of their royal titles. They hold the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

He said: "You take away their titles, I agree, absolutely. They don't want to be members of the Royal Family, so why should they trade on royal titles? [Harry] will always be a Prince [though]".

Paul expressed concern over the new docuseries when its release date was mentioned. Towards the end of the segment, he said he can't "bear it" and that it will "upset" him.

The first volume of Harry & Meghan will launch on on Netflix on Thursday (December 8). The second volume will be released through the platform on December 15.

Piers Morgan Uncensored airs weekdays on TalkTV at 8pm.
