Pattaya beach in Chon Buri will be the venue for the final "Olympic Day Walk-Run" of 2022, which is scheduled for Sept 10 at 6pm.
Organised by the Olympic Committee of Thailand, this is the first time that the race will be held on the sand, giving participants of all ages a greater challenge but reducing the impact on their knees and ankles, with the distances being shortened to 2.8km and 5km.
Interested runners have until Aug 20 to register. The top 100 men's and women's finishers in the 5km race will each receive a souvenir shirt while all participants will receive a commemorative medal and an e-certificate.
The event also will feature competitions and demonstrations of beach and water sports included in the Summer Youth Olympics, with prizes up for grabs.
The area around the central Pattaya beach will be transformed into a huge activity area with something for everyone. Besides all the sports-related activities, expect to have fun with entertainment and performances from Last Idol Thailand girl group and other artists. There will also be activities to heighten environmental awareness, which will include actors Phakin "Tono" Khamwilaisak and Nuttanicha "Nicha" Dungwattanawanich, who will be leading a plogging (picking up trash and litter while jogging) activity along the beach.
The registration fee of 370 baht, which includes a T-shirt for both the 2.8km and 5km categories, can be made in person at any Thai Ticket Major outlets and online via thaiticketmajor.com.
