Patrols have been stepped up in a north Manchester suburb following reports of a street shooting.
Officers were first called to Monsall Road in Monsall, near the junction with Monsall Street, at around 4.10pm yesterday (Thursday) to 'reports of a suspected firearms discharge'. Police tape was put in place as forensic officers and Tactical Aid Unit officers carried out investigations within the cordon.
Today Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed patrols have been stepped up in the area as detectives appealed to the public for any information.

Initial enquiries suggest that two vehicles and a motorcycle were believed to be at the scene and could hold vital information that could assist officers with their investigation, according to GMP.
The force said no injuries have been reported and as yet there have been no arrests.
Detective Inspector Paddy Connell said: "I would like to reassure the local community that we believe this incident is isolated and there is no risk to the wider public.
"We have made significant enquiries into this incident, albeit this is still ongoing we have managed to gain a full understanding of the timeline of events due to hard work that has been put in overnight.
"Extra patrol officers have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars. If you have any concerns about this incident our officers will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.
"I am appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information that could assist our investigation, whether it be CCTV footage, doorbell footage, photos, or descriptions of the suspects or events, we would ask that you report it to us directly."
The Manchester Evening News understands that a live bullet was found on the scene, but that it had not been fired.
Forensics could be seen carrying out fingertip searches of the scene with evidence markers placed within the cordon.
Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact GMP on 0161 856 1146 quoting log 2368 of 01/06/2023.
People can also report information via www.gmp.police.uk or through Crimestoppers - anonymously – on 0800 555 111.
