New England Patriots wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has gotten off to a slow start this season, but he is embracing and adapting to his role.
The wideout has recorded 10 catches for 66 yards in the first three games, with just one reception for five yards against the New York Jets on Sunday. It’s been a struggle for the wideout to find his role in the offense, although it appears it is becoming more defined. He is taking on a more physical role as a blocker, as the Patriots are utilizing their running backs at a high level.
Buy Patriots TicketsHis production to this point has not been the same as it was last season in Kansas City. He had 78 catches for 933 yards and three touchdowns for the Chiefs.
“I’ve played in this league for so long that you kind of learn how to adapt and do things that the team is needing,” said Smith-Schuster. “I feel like me being here, I love my role. I embrace it. It’s fun. I do a lot of dirty work, which is nice, too.”

It will be interesting to see if Smith-Schuster will become more involved in the passing game. The Patriots would be better off with his production long-term as more than just a blocker.
