Patriots star defender questions team’s direction if changes aren’t made

New England Patriots defensive end Keion White remains frustrated with the direction the team is headed in. The defense continued to struggle in the 40-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.

White recorded two total tackles in the blowout loss. He helped generate a pass rush in the game, but the defenders failed to get home on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who wasn’t sacked once in the game.

The second-year edge rusher has expressed disappointment with the team recently, as he pondered his future with the team ahead of the game. Those questions were probably heightened after Saturday’s lackluster defensive showing.

“I mean, I hope so,” White responded when asked if major changes are coming, via Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. “If changes aren’t made, then what are we doing? Again, NFL is a production based business, so if we’re not doing anything to change our production, which is loss, what are we doing? …Again, it’s not for me to decide. First and foremost, I’m changing me, changing how I play the game.”

White is one of the more talented players on the Patriots’ defense. His frustrations are certainly worrisome, given that he is still on a rookie contract.

Hopefully, the Patriots can stabilize the ship, as he is one of their top defensive weapons and a potential building block for the future.
