Patriots sign former fourth-round draft pick OL to futures deal

The New England Patriots have signed offensive guard Michael Jordan to a futures contract. On Wednesday, the team confirmed the agreement with the former fourth-round draft pick out of Ohio State.

Jordan was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019, and he has since played for the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers. He has appeared in 55 games with 29 starts over the course of his five-year NFL career. However, he spent all of 2023 on the Packers’ practice squad.

The Patriots are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to improving their offensive line.

Offensive tackle Trent Brown and offensive guard/swing tackle Mike Onwenu are both on expiring contracts. Center David Andrews turns 32 years old this year, and guard Cole Strange, a former first-round draft pick, wasn’t able to stay healthy consistently enough to make an impact in his second season in New England. The team clearly needs help across the board.

With this futures deal, Jordan is guaranteed an opportunity to compete for a job in a unit expected to undergo a dramatic facelift in 2024.
