Patriots reportedly host four free agent players for a workout

The New England Patriots reportedly hosted four free agent players for workouts on Friday, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Those players included offensive lineman Mike Novitsky, fullback Nick Bawden, wide receiver Isaiah Ford and tight end Neal Johnson.

Ford’s name likely jumps out for most Patriots fans considering he was traded to New England from the Miami Dolphins for a seventh-round draft pick in 2020.

He didn’t appear in any games for the team, and he was ultimately waived a little over a month later.

Bawden is a former New York Jet who was released before the start of training camp. Meanwhile, Johnson was released by the Los Angeles Rams, and undrafted rookie center Novitsky was cut by the Seattle Seahawks.

The Patriots taking a closer look at Novitsky makes sense after the team put Jake Andrews on injured reserve on Monday. They could use some more depth in that position behind David Andrews and Nick Leverett.

Time will tell if Novitsky did well enough to create an opportunity for himself in New England.
