Free agent cornerback Caleb Farley reportedly worked out for the New England Patriots on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Field Yates.
The Tennessee Titans released the former first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft during roster cuts. Injuries are the biggest culprit for Farley’s perceived bust status in Tennessee.
He tore his ACL in his rookie season, and the following year, he suffered a season-ending back injury. Then, in 2023, he spent time on the physically unable to perform list.
It has been an injury-plagued run for a player once believed to be one of the best defensive backs in the country. The Patriots need depth at cornerback, and it makes sense for them to take a flier on a player like Farley.
Farley has appeared in 12 NFL games and started in two. He has 10 tackles and one pass deflection in his career.
The Patriots might decide to make a move, or this might simply be a situation of them doing their due diligence on a player who could be a healthy season away from changing the narrative on his career.
