Patriots release former OL starter from practice squad, sign new DE

The New England Patriots continued their slew of practice squad moves on Tuesday by announcing the release of offensive guard Michael Jordan and the signing of defensive end Truman Jones.

Jordan has played in 12 games and started in 11 of them for the Patriots this season. He was demoted last week when the team opted to start rookie Layden Robinson at left guard. The Patriots initially cut him but then re-signed him to the practice squad after he cleared waivers.

Now, they’re cutting him from the practice squad to make room for another defensive player.

Jones was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2023. He didn’t play a single snap for the team and was ultimately released last week. The Patriots are hopeful to unlock some of the potential Jones showed during his college run at Harvard.

He played in 30 games and posted 88 total tackles, 14.5 sacks, four pass deflections and 28.5 tackles for a loss.
