New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett commented on his feelings on being benched, as rookie Drake Maye will start on Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Brissett has been the Patriots’ starting quarterback through the first four games of the season. He has tallied 696 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The offense has struggled with Brissett’s two touchdowns ranking last in the NFL. His 38.9 quarterback rating ranks 28th.
Maye was officially announced as the starter for Week 6 against the Houston Texans.
“I’ve been through harder things in my life. I’m sure this won’t be the last time I go through something hard. So I’ll be alright. Drake asked me how I’m feeling, and I said, ‘Man, if you’re worried about me, you’re worried about the wrong thing. I can take care of myself.’ I obviously appreciate that, but I’ll be alright,” said Brissett.

Maye is getting thrown right into the fire against a 4-1 Texans team with a great pass rush. Brissett was signed as a bridge quarterback back in March, and now, he has to face the unfortunate reality that comes with that position.
