The New England Patriots have officially listed veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett as questionable to return to Sunday’s preseason game with a right shoulder injury.
The injury happened during a scary hit by Washington Commanders defensive end KJ Henry. There was an obvious miscommunication along the offensive front for the Patriots, which resulted in Henry running free and blasting Brissett for a sack.
There was a belief that Brissett would likely be the Week 1 starter for the Patriots in the regular season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. That might still be the case depending on the extent of the injury.

But if it’s something that takes time to heal, it could push rookie Drake Maye to the forefront of the quarterback picture. The Patriots could be forced to hand over the reins to the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft sooner than originally thought.
