New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is not going to change the way he plays, despite suffering a concussion just a week ago against the New York Jets.
During Sunday’s post-game press conference, following the Patriots’ 20-17 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans, he made it clear that he will still run the ball.
“I’m not gonna change the player that I am,” Maye said after the game. “I passed the (concussion) protocol… if they’re dropping out guys and there’s some rush lanes up front, I’m gonna make ‘em pay.”
Maye did exactly that against the Titans by recording eight carries for 95 yards, averaging 11.5 yards per rush. He was New England’s leading rusher on the day. It brought his total rushing yards up to 212 yards on the season.
The North Carolina product scampered around and kept drives alive with his legs behind a struggling offensive line.

It has certainly been exciting to see what Maye can do with his legs. The mobility has been a major part of his game, and it could work in his favor as the Patriots continue to retool the offensive line.
