New England Patriots punter Bryce Baringer was mic’d up for last Thursday’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. What followed was a unique and hilarious look into his mindset throughout the game.
Baringer had a tremendous rookie season in 2023. He had 98 punts and averaged 46.9 yards per punt in a year when he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. This included 38 punts landing inside the 20-yard line. He was a bright spot in a year where the Patriots finished 4-13 and dead last in the AFC East.
He is well on his way to picking back up where he left off after “dropping a dime” punt on the Eagles.
“So many people were smacking my head,” Baringer could be heard saying after taking 28 celebratory helmet smacks.

Hopefully, the Patriots won’t have to use Baringer much this season. They need to do a better job of finishing drives with touchdowns, not punts.
But when they do need a punter, they clearly have one of the best for the job.
