Patriots OT Trent Brown made interesting comments about new contract

New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown is appreciative of his reworked contract. The deal will give him $2 million in incentives and has a max value of $13 million.

On top of that, he can still test the free agent market at the end of the season with the reworked deal.

Brown was appreciative of his new contract and said as much when speaking with the media. He is coming off a game against the New York Jets that saw him play some of his best football in recent memory.

Could this be a season where he showcases his skills for free agency? He may have alluded to doing so, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Zack Cox.

“It was a nice raise, a nice gesture,” said Brown. “And it still allowed me to be a free agent at the end of the year, so I’m appreciative of that. Now, it’s time to play ball.”

The Patriots will have more difficult decisions to make at the end of the season. For now, they look to make it two wins in a row when they take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
