The offensive line play for the New England Patriots was atrocious in Sunday’s preseason finale against the Washington Commanders.
What else is new?
Not being able to block and protect has been the Achilles heel for the Patriots for multiple seasons, and the team is still struggling to do anything about it.
Pass protection was an issue, along with snapping problems and far too many penalties. Veteran offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor drew multiple illegal formation penalties, which elicited some extra commentary from the official when throwing the flag.
“Illegal formation, once again, left tackle No. 77,” NFL ref Shawn Hochuli said after flagging the play during the game.

There are serious concerns along the offensive front in New England. Sidy Sow went down with an injury in the game, and he was seen in a walking boot after the matchup.
Sow potentially being down means more shuffling for the Patriots along the offensive front. The team was already missing Cole Strange at guard, and Mike Onwenu has been kicked back out to tackle to help fill the void for the struggles at that position as well.
It’s a neverending game of musical chairs that could run off a cliff by the time the season gets here.
