The New England Patriots paid a visit to Sacramento State linebacker Marte Mapu, according to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson.
Mapu was a productive player for the program. He recorded 65 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and an interception last season. He also showed his athleticism, recording four pass deflections in four seasons at Sacramento State.
New England has had success drafting at the linebacker position in recent memory, as Josh Uche and Ja’Whaun Bentley stand out among some of those classes. The Patriots value the position, and it is a spot where depth is needed.
Mapu could be a late-round steal if they were to select him. New England doesn’t need to make the linebacker position a priority, but Mapu could be a solid selection, if he is still on the board later on.
