The New England Patriots are making a change to their wide receivers room ahead of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. According to Patriots coach Jerod Mayo, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton will be active for the divisional matchup.
Rookie receiver Ja’Lynn Polk was ruled out for the game due to being in concussion protocol. So this will be an opportunity for Thornton to get things back on track after being a healthy scratch for the last couple of weeks.
The Baylor product has recorded two catches for 27 yards on the season. He has had a bumpy NFL career with 37 catches for 365 yards and two touchdowns in his three seasons with the Patriots.
“Tyquan has done a good job at practice,” Mayo said, per a team-provided video, via NESN.com’s Keagan Stiefel. “I’m looking forward to seeing him in a game. He will be at the game. He’s had a great week of practice; he’ll be there, and hopefully, it translates.”
The Patriots will be looking to end a six-game losing streak and avenge a previous loss to the Jets on Sunday. They’ll need all hands on deck, including Thornton’s, if they hope to have any chance of pulling off an upset.
