Patriots make decision on QB Drake Maye’s game status vs. Titans

The New England Patriots announced on Saturday that Drake Maye has been removed from the injury report after clearing concussion protocol.

That means the rookie quarterback is set to play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Maye went down with the injury in last week’s win over the New York Jets after taking a hit from linebacker Jamien Sherwood. He threw a couple of nice passes after the injury before he was finally taken out of the game.

There was hope that he would clear the concussion protocol in time considering he was already in phase three of the five-step return process when the team practiced on Wednesday. His condition has continued to improve ever since.

The Patriots will be on the road facing a one-win Titans team with an underrated defensive backfield. They currently have the No. 1-ranked passing defense in the league. So it’ll be a good test for Maye and a Patriots team that just ended a six-game losing streak.
