The New England Patriots were holding out hope that Jack Jones would return at some point, but those hopes were put to rest on Saturday with the team announcing the promising rookie cornerback had been placed on injured reserve.
Jones exploded onto the scene as a standout playmaker on the Patriots defense. Through the first 10 weeks of the season, he was the second-highest rated rookie in the league by Pro Football Focus.
Not bad for a fourth-round draft pick out of Arizona State.
He appeared in 13 games with 30 tackles, six pass deflections, one forced fumble and two interceptions, including a pick-six on Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Placing Jones on IR wasn’t the only move the Patriots made.
The team also signed cornerback Tae Hayes from the practice squad, along with elevating Matt Sokol and Quandre Mosely, ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Miami Dolphins.
