Matthew Judon had a two-word response when asked if he wants to be traded from the New England Patriots: “Hell Naw.”
The four-time Pro Bowler showed up and participated in Day 1 of training camp on Wednesday, despite his ongoing contract negotiations behind the scenes. He has given every indication that he wants to stay in New England, but he has yet to agree on a contract extension with the Patriots.
It’s a tricky situation considering Judon turns 32 years old in August, and he’s coming off a season-ending injury. The Patriots don’t want to agree to a deal they could end up regretting down the line.
With that said, Judon is one of the best pass-rushers in the league when healthy, and the Patriots are rich in salary cap space. They have already been passing out big contracts to other pending in-house free agents.
Why not pay a proven playmaker like Judon?

There’s still hope that the two sides can hammer out a deal at some point. The situation hasn’t devolved into Judon skipping training camp or standing and watching from the sideline.
“The man with the red sleeves” appears to be all in for the 2024 season, even if it ends up being his last in New England.
